Inventor is a software that allows to to create any 2d, and 3d object you can think of. You can do this by creating sketches on a flat plane and extruding them, or starting with a 3d shape and carving from it to make what you want.
These are the sketches from my designer notebook. They were drawn on some Isometric graph paper, to make it easier for 3d drawings.
The first step to making a widget is creating a sketch of one side of your widget. You create this sketch on a flat plane, and can use various tool to make the shapes you want. The 3rd step is to extrude your 2d drawing into a 3d shape. you do this using the extrude tool in the upper left corner. You can choose how much you extrude your object in the pop up menu. We extruded out 1in, making a perfect cube if all the gapes were filled in. |
The second step is to put in all of your dimensions. The isometric paper we had was .25in for each line of the triangles. So if you look at the one side as a square it would be 1in x 1in.The last step is to look over your widget and see if you can spot any mistakes. Then you can save, and your done. |
